Baby Shower Goodness

So we had our second baby shower today. And from what Jeni tells me it went well. I had to haul quite a few bags from leesburg, to orlando so I guess it went well. Anyways, we will hopefully do a podcast episode tomorrow to tell you all about it. But the purpose of this entry is to point out that I uploaded images from the last two showers. If you click The pregnancy photo link to the right, it should take you to the most up to date photos. Enjoy.

Good Luck Brendan

First off, sorry for the delay in posting. My (daniel) commitment to posting kind of stopped on both blogs very abbruptly. I am not entirely sure what happend, but I became rather tired, and didn’t feel like I had much to talk about.

I will make an attempt to be better about this, and atleast every couples days post, if not every day.

That being said. Good Luck Brendand. We had our first, and now second lamaze classes, and wow, does Brendan have a lot to do to come out naturally. First he has to wait for this thing to open up. Then he has to slide down into the hip bone, then he has to swivle. Then he goes down a little farter, and swivles again. It is amazing the human race has managed to make it this far. More importantly it is important that this comes natural to babies, cause I have meet a few people that I am not sure they would remember what they had to do if it wasn’t natural.

Our second class was equally as fun cause we got to watch some videos of women giving birth. Television and movies give this act no credit whatsoever. There is alot of different positions, and a lot of moaning and groaning. The same outcomes always seems to happen though, the mother lights up as soon as the baby is in her arms. I am very excited that Jeni will be the woman who experiences this with my baby. Not to mention I am excited about holding him myself.

Anyways, Off to clean the house, we have our first baby shower this weekend, so fun fun.

Just a little FYI, I added some things to the Babies R Us registry, and created a target registry. You can find links to both of these on the registry page.

Winnie Palmer, WOW

Sorry there was no post last night, but Jeni and I made our first trip to Winnie Palmer Hospital Last night. Oh my goodness this looks like a very nice hospital. Unfortunately we had to find that out on a bit of unfortunately news. Last night Jeni was having really bad cramps so we called up the nurse hotline our physican told us to call after hours. The phone nurse basically said it was probably nothing but to be safe we should probably go the the hospital to get it checked out.

Jeni and I grabbed some stuff, put Kye in her crate and headed off to the hospital. My first reaction was, wow, I have no idea where that is, so I googled it, Google please forgive me. I found directions and was off. Arriving at the hospital I couldn’t find parking, seems that vallet is the preferred method of parking for $5, and $4 gets you a day in the garage. Mistake 1: I didn’t grab the cash off my end table before we left, luckily Jeni had cash.

After parking we j-walked across the street cause it was quicker than back tracking to the cross walk. First impressions are important, and Winnie Palmer definetly achieves this goal. The building looks amazing, and then as you walk into the hospital you are surrounded by a wall of water. This is followed up by an exteremely courtesy desk directing us to exactly where we need to go. Followed by a personal escort to the appropriate waiting room. Finally we sat for three and a half hours waiting to be called back.

We passed the time with some Nintendo DS, and tiny naps. But waiting 3+ hours in waiting room between 8p – 12p is not exactly fun. Jeni got a little frustrated with me because I went and had a chat with the recepionist about the priority of patients. I completely understand that some people need to be treated ASAP, however I think if someone (charge nurse) is making a decision about the order, and somebody (me) asks what that order is, or where I fall in it. Then the receptionist shoudl ahve that information available. And here is my reasoning. They are obviously doing a quick decision as to who has the most severe condition. All we wanted to know was if everything was all right for the night, we could have very easily waited till the morning to talk to our doctor. All I am saying is, if there is a list, then it should be posted so people can anticipate how long they will be waiting.

So now the part you have all been waiting for, what was wrong. Well you have to wait cause we did too. We got called back and the nurse was very nice, she had Jeni lay on the bed and put some listening devices, similar to what Dr. Bischof uses. She asked Jeni questions about her symptoms and told us it didn’t seem like early contractions but we will let the monitors run for 20 minutes and check. Twenty minute went by and the nurse didnt’ show up. Jeni and I started to drift off, and right as I was getting into a good sleep the door opens. I looked at the clock it was 12:45 at this point, and she basically just looked over everything and told Jeni she could take off the monitor. The nurse left and came back 5 minutes later.

And now the moment you have all been waiting for…Nothing was wrong. As we suspected it was just the growing pains of child birth. The nurse did say it was good for us to come in though cause it is better to get it checked out and be sure. She explained it was a welcomed break for her to see a couple who cares about there pregancy and is just checking, cause she has had alot of women come in who were strung out on crack and wondering what was wrong. When she said this I was like OMG, women do that.

Anyways, I realize this post is getting extremely long and if you have reached the end you are a trooper. I hope you have enjoyed my more frequent updates. I enjoy writing them.
