The Happy Family

It has been awhile since my last post, and I apologize. I recently reformatted my laptop, so I could setup windows and os x, and it took me longer to get everything set back up than I expected. I am almost caught up with everything, but I still have to finish setting up my programming stuff, and I want to look into a backup system.

Anyways, enough boring tech talk, I just posted a first round of pictures. They are a little old, but I have another 100 or so on my camera, that I still need to title and upload.

To give a quick recap of what has happened since last I posted…

  • Brendan is 5 1/2 months old now.
  • He got his first ear infection, and was a very good boy sticking it out. We purchased everything we could think of to ease his pain. We got him medicine from the doctor, Tylenol, a humidifier ,and we almost bought an electric bugger sucker.
  • Jeni is done with school, and very happy this year is over. It was a long year for her, but she looks forward to next year
  • I am still working at CFi and on Protoh. Because of the whole computer reformat, I haven’t been as productive on my side projects as I should, but I am feeling like I am getting back into the swing of things. Especially since Jeni is not as swamped, I won’t have to attempt to keep up with her.
  • Brendan meet his Great Aunt Rose and Great Uncle Kevin, as well as his second cousin Elsa.
  • Oh and most importantly he discovered his tongue, so make sure if you see him you ask him to show it to you. He will be thrilled!!

Anyways, that is the two cent version. Enjoy the photos.

That puts Brendan in the 50 precentile, which is right on course. Since we have been going to Dr. Cardona, his growth curve has been right on 50 percent, and he is still going strong.

We had his 4 months check-up yesturday (4/17/07). He got his second round of shots, and Jeni hid in the corner again. But Brendan did well. He cried sooner this time, but he stopped crying almost as soon as it was over. So far we haven’t seen any bad side effects, he has been a little warm, but the doctor told us that would happen.

Happy 4 Months Brendan.

Happy Tax Day

Happy Tax Day

Originally uploaded by daniel.roop.

Just a friendly reminder from Brendan to remember to file your taxes today. I have had mine done twice now.

I did them myself with turbo-tax and I didn’t like the outcome. So I went to a CPA to look our my corporate (Protoh) taxes, and personal taxes. He did not end up doing anything with my corporate taxes, we don’t need to file anything substantial this last year, but personal he helped me out tremedously.

So as a word to the wise, if you think turbo-tax is jibbing you, spend the extra $100 to get a CPA. I covered his costs, plus made more money than turbo-tax gave me as a refund. I also want to go on the record that turbo-tax treated me very well last year, I just think my situation got more complicated, because of my change of job, and having a son.

Regardless, HAPPY TAX DAY.

Restructure Complete

I have completed part 1, 2, 3, and 4. I am amazing. Just kidding. For those of you who have danielandjeni.com/baby bookmarked, please update the bookmark to danielandjeni.com/blog. If you want to see all the posts they are all still here, under the “brendan” category.

Alright, off to begin pulling images off my camera onto the computer.

New Blog

Phase 1 of site restructure complete. I have setup the new ‘Daniel and Jeni Roop Family Blog’ up. I have titled it “Two Become…”. For those of you who saw the wedding site, might have noticed “Two become one…” was the “tag line” for or wedding site, and I felt it was appropriate to keep the theme but drop the one, since the blog’s intention is to go over everything the two of us do, not just our marriage.

That being said, I have a few more things I want to change before I start putting new content up.

1. Create a redirect from danielandjeni.com/baby so that anyone who has it bookmared will automatically be redirected here.

2. Update the Splash page at danielandjeni.com to point to Family Blog instead of Baby Blog, maybe I will leave baby blog, and point to the Brendan category, since that is what I will tag all the posts about Brendan as.

3. Move all family related posts from danielroop.com/blog to this blog.

4. Non related to this, but I plan on changing danielroop.com into a technical blog, about everything that I learn and do in my career. So if anyone was reading it for my political rants, they probably won’t show up there anymore.

So everyone just sit back, and be patient with me, I have some pictures of Brendan sporting his Gator apperal for the big win, as well as some more recent stuff.

The kids all pooped

The kids all pooped

It has been a few weeks since Jeni and I have posted but I just uploaded some photos so I figured I would give everyone an update.

Brendan turned 2 months old today! I can’t believe it has already been 2 months. We have been through a lot. His first cold, his first bump on the head, his first hard stool. He is getting old, and in a few weeks we will have another first, his first day away from mommy and daddy all day. He will be starting day care on March 1 (for a half day) and full time starting March 5.

But let’s not dwell on the future, tomorrow is exciting because it is his first round of shots. So I am going with Jeni to his doctor’s appointment to keep her strong. Wish us luck, I am sure Brendan will do fine, it is Jeni I am worried about.

Anyways, sorry about the few and far between posts. We have more pictures on the camera and as soon as I can get to uploading them I will.
