Last week we had the Antel’s over for a play date with Brendan. Brendan had a fun time with Grayson, and it was fun having Brian and Melissa over for dinner.

As you can see Brendan enjoyed our first family vacation. We went to Sand Key in Clearwater Beach, FL and stayed at the Sheraton. The hotel was very nice, and the beach was very beautiful. The biggest problem was how hot it was, but we got some good beach time. That evening we met up with Steve and Allison Chubboy. Jeni and I haven’t seen Steve and Allison since they moved back from Tennessee and it was good to catch up with them.
We only spent the one evening in Clearwater and on the way home we had lunch with Jeni’s sister. Saturday we had decided to go get Jeni a new car. We decided on the new 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L model. Unfortunately we weren’t able to make a deal with Mike Ramesar and his Sales manager the first day at Classic Honda. But Mike was persistant and a few days later we worked out a deal, so Jeni has a new 2007 Glacier blue Honda CR-V. Instead of buying the Honda GPS unit we decided to order our own, and we got the Garmin Nuvi 660. So far we are pretty happy with it, although I haven’t quite figured out all the features yet.
For me the best part of the vacation was the last day. It was a monday and Jeni and I took Brendan to daycare and we spent the day together. We had breakfast at LePeep, and finally took the time to run some long awaited earnds. Finally we went to see Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. The movie was great, and it was the first movie Jeni and I have gone to together since before Brendan was born, so that was a lot of fun.
That was basically our first family vacation. Enjoy all the photos on flickr!
A few weeks back we all went to visit the Chen Family. Brendan got to meet Morgan (pictured) and Bailey Chen. It was fun catching up with Cheri, Ricki and Mark. Brendan had a good time getting beat up by Morgan.
Congratulations to Michael and Amy Sica for their first born child, Sophia Marie Sica. Mike sounds very excited and if you want to see pictures of his beautiful daughter check out his blog post.
Brendan and her have not met yet, but Mike has already threatened me if my son tries to date his daughter.
Well it is official, Brendan has outgrown the sink bath and graduated to the Duck Bath. Along with this exciting news, we believe Brendan is work on his secound round of teeth, which he seems to be dealing with better than last time, but we still haven’t seen anything break through. He is starting to sit up on his own, just today he was sitting up for a good 5 minutes with me just keeping my hands behind him “just incase”.
The feeding is going much better, he is doing pretty well eating three times a day, and eating a wide range of foods. We are still having a little trouble finding a fruit that he likes consitently, but we keep trying.
Congratulations to our friends, Michael and Amy Sica, we got a call at work today that they they were at winnie palmer and Amy was being induced!. So it won’t be long till little Sophia Sica has graced us with her grand entrance into this world.
I hope everyone had a great Independence Day, we enjoyed ours!
On a Final Note, I am so excited because I get to go see a Movie in the theaters tomorrow! I think the last movie I saw was Over the Hedge with Jeni and Aeisha, and before I can’t even remember. Tomorrow I am going to see Transformers with the guys at work, and I am going all out. I plan on getting the Large Soda, Candy and probably popcorn even though I won’t eat it. I am very excited about going to the movies…can you tell ;-).
We Roops just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day!
From time to time I check up on old friends who went off to be actor/actresses back from the home town. One such friend was Jackie Kreisler and Jackie briefly entered our lives back in Leesburg during my High School Career. Jackie was a very excited, and easy going person who would always be someone fun to hang out with. During the time that I knew Jackie she did many things including going through Chrysalis with Jeni. Towards the end of my tenure at Leesburg High School Jackie moved to California to take a stab at acting. Although we were sad to see her go, we wished her the best and knew should would make something of her self.
Well it turns out after a few years of hard work this contortionist from Central Florida has starred in a movie called Dreamland. I had checked up on Jackie’s IMDB page over the last few years and noted she had a few projects she worked on but none seemed to ever get released. Well Dreamland did, and as soon as I noticed I added it to the top of my Netflix queue.
I am no movie critic but here is my two cents…
First, it is a thriller, and as such you are left out of the loop on a lot of the details in order to create a sense of suspense and danger. Some movies do this very well, while others like Dreamland seem to leave too much unexplained. Even at the very end I was not entirely sure what happened. I got the connections, but the motivation never made sense to me. That aside what can you say bad about a writer/directory who has done such a wonderful job portraying everyone’s favorite creepy guy..The Creeper…in Jeepers Creepers. That is correct Johnathon Breckthe person who plays The Creeper was the writer/director of Dreamland.
All things equal I understand why Dreamland wasn’t a major blockbuster, but I have seen much worse movies make it Orlando, that probably should have never been filmed. I believe my biggest problem with the movie was that it seemed to be written as a movie first, taking into account the shots that needed to be taken, before the story was written. What I mean by that is, the individual scenes were put together quite well, but as a whole the movie seemed to flow very poorly and the ending was not tied up enough.
Enough about the movie, what about Jackie? I think Jackie did a very good job with the story she was given. She portrayed a range of emotions, used a little bit of vulgar language, showed a little skin, and took up smoking. From what I remember about Jackie most of the things she was in this movie, were not what Jackie is in real life, so I give her a thumbs up for commiting to the character. The one thing Jeni and I would suggest to Jackie the next time you get a thriller/physco role would be to stop messing with your hair so much. Now if Mr. Creepers told you to do this we apologize but, it seemed a little obsessive.
Anyways, Jackie if you do any vanity searches on Google and this post happens to come up. Daniel and Jeni (Whitman) Roop say hi and wish you the best of luck, and were so excited to see you in a movie we could get on netflix. Oh and Good Luck as Pretzel Girl in Bratz!
So I finally got around to uploading the rest of the pictures that were on our camera, so be sure to go to the photo gallery and see all the new stuff.
A lot of neat stuff has been going on lately. Jeni is done with and enjoying every minute of it. At least for now, I am sure she will begin calling me 5 times a day as she runs out of stuff to do ;-). Also two days a week she has got to spend some time with our niece, Aeisha, to help her get ready for the 1st grade next year!
I finally got my promotion I have been hoping for. I am now a Senior Developer which makes me sound important. But all it means is I now have to be on call every other month, and I get to torment, I mean train, new people.
Brendan has been growing like crazy. He is gooing and gagaing but no consonants yet. We have two teeth finally poking through. Wow was that fun. He went from quite lovable Brendan to crying machine as soon as he got tired. It was amazing, but over all I think he dealt with his first two teeth quite well, and I am very proud of him.
Two days ago he had his 6 month checkup and the doctor says he looks healthy, and we should try feeding him more baby food. This is easier said than done, so far Brendan has had one good feeding where he was actually consuming the food instead of just making funny faces. Hopefully this will get better over time.
Also on a final note, I had my first Father Day and it was great, I got woke up at 8:30 a.m. two Brendan, Kye-Lynn and Jeni all presenting cards…two of which had them in there mouth ;-).
Enjoy the pictures.
Last night we went to Sonny’s and I took this great picture. Enjoy
Today we went to grandpa whitman’s house and brendan and jeni had a good time on the swing.
