New York Vacation

So this is a little delayed, but I figured I would go ahead and do some posting since I am having some issues sleeping. New York was alot of fun. We did a lot, but there was so much we didn’t do. I will just highlight my impressions, and I am sure Jeni will touch on hers on the baby blog.

First thing when we arrived I immediately noticed that JFK is no where near as nice as MCO (Orlando International Airport). I later found ot this is a trend in New York because LGA was just as unimpressive. After we got to the airport we collected our baggage, and when to find out how to get a shuttle to the hotel. I had to call the company because there was no attendant at the transportation booth. I still am not sure how, but for some reason Super Shuttle has my name as Nathan Daniel. Both drivers got on to me for not answering but they had my name wrong, why would I respond to Nathan.

The hotel was all about the location. I liked it, and I am not a pickey person, but for the money we spent I was expecting a little more than a poorly maintained howard johnson. Know I don’t want to give you the wrong impression, I was happy with the accomidations, but I noticed it was a little rough around the edges. We were however on 56th and 7th which is relatively close to a good chunk of manhatten so location was worth the money.

Day 0 was not so eventful. When we got to the hotel we found out 7th avenue was blocked off, which was cool cause there was an art festival of some kind going on, but it was not cool because we had to carry our luggage a block and a half to the hotel from where the taxi could drop us off. After we got situated we ended up walking down 7th ave to see what all was for sale in the art festival. There was some neat stuff but nothing that we decided to buy. The only other really exciting thing about Day 0 was that we paied 50 bucks for 2 hamburgers, fries, 1 soda, and tip at the Hotel restaurant. Now if this was a decent burger I wouldn’t mind. But this was a realy CRAPPY burger. It was on a kaiser roll, and it was not seasoned at all. Later that night we had our first experience at a local restuarant. We went to Ray’s Pizza. I had pizza Jeni got spaghetti. They were both very good, and I marked Goal 1 off of my list (Getting a Slice of Pizza).

That being said, I am going to save Day 1 – 7 for another restless night. I am going to start to have to blog shorter more frequent posts, otherwise I don’t think I will ever catch up.
